Virtual Recovery Coach - A Telephone or Virtual Recovery Coaching relationship may be established to continue beyond the face to face meeting of a client and a recovery coach, sober escort or a sober companion coach. The prior face to face coaching relationship was built on trust and re-established honesty for the client, so the Telephone or Virtual Recovery Coach relationship can continue in the same light, with daily or weekly telephone or web based conversations.

I am a highly trained partner who is willing to work with you so you can have the life you want in recovery. I will help you solve problems and enjoy life so it’s easier to remain in recovery.

I can help you find community support such as good 12-step meetings or alternatives such as SMART or Women for Sobriety. We can help you solve problems, like what to say to your friends. Or your boss. Or how to get a job or how to get along with your family. But if you are having intrusive flashbacks or are really depressed then a therapist would be better support. If not, then working with me, as your Recovery Coach is really practical and useful and way more fun.

I do not work with clients on how their life is now and how they would like it to be in terms of health, work, relationships, finances, etc. I ask “what” and “how” questions to create goals and plans. By the way, coaches and therapists work well together some people love having both.

Expect to be asked how you want to pursue recovery. I support sponsorship and 12-step recovery but realize that some people may prefer SMART or WFS groups or just want to stop on their own. I always support them in their choice.

Recovery Coaching was originally developed by life coaches for people in recovery to enjoy their lives more. We think people who enjoy life in recovery are more likely to stay in recovery. I can help you find your strengths and apply them to having a better life. I don’t think of you as powerless or diseased. I think of you as creative, resilient, and resourceful. What would it be like to have support from someone who believes in you, sees your strengths, and wants you to enjoy life in recovery?

Recovery is possible from the following: chemical dependency, sex addictions, eating disorders, or money problems like under earning, shopping too much, or gambling. I don’t diagnose and I don’t do treatment, but I can help people get clear about what they want to do, come up with a plan for going it alone, or find a good treatment center, or community support when they come home, or just work on finding creative and inspiring things to do that make staying in recovery worthwhile.

Relapse is not a requirement, but we do realize that it does happen. First, we don’t think you will. But if you do relapse, we will continue to work with you as long as we can be of help. Often, when working with a coach, a relapse can be limited to a single incident and then you can return right back into recovery. We will ask you what you learned and help you make a plan so it doesn’t happen again. However, if you don’t show up or you can’t benefit we will promptly stop coaching you so we don’t waste your time or money—and we will refer you to people who can help you.

Always remember, Recovery coaching is a form of strengths-based support for persons with addictions or in recovery from alcohol, other drugs, codependency, or other addictive behaviors. Recovery coaches work with persons with active addictions as well as persons already in recovery. Recovery coaches are helpful for making decisions about what to do with your life and the part your addiction or recovery plays. Recovery coaches help clients find ways to stop addiction (abstinence), or reduce harm associated with addictive behaviors. Recovery coaches can help a client find resources for harm reduction, detox, treatment, family support and education, local or online support groups; or help a client create a change plan to recover on their own.
